In a new op-ed for The Wall Street Journal, AAF Board Member and former Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady and AAF President Douglas Holtz-Eakin discuss the importance of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and consider the need for further tax reforms as most of its provisions will sunset in 2025. The authors contend that lawmakers should take a clear look at the state of the tax code and make reforms aimed at enhanced fairness, greater simplicity, and rapid economic growth.

Serious pro-growth tax reform seems to occur in America only once a generation. The sunset provisions coming in 2025 create a timely opportunity to continue to encourage innovation, productivity and growth. Thoughtful planning and a concerted effort by Congress and the president will provide the greatest opportunity to help American workers, families and businesses.
