HOLTZ-EAKIN ON PATENTS: END THE RAID ON PATENT FEES

Washington, DC – American Action Forum President Doug Holtz-Eakin today called on Senate leadership to prevent fee diversion in the United States Patent and Trademark Office(USPTO):

“Each year over $800 million in user fees are diverted away from the USPTO through the Congressional appropriations process,” commented Holtz-Eakin. “As the Senate continues to debate patent reform, I urge Majority Leader Reid and Minority Leader McConnell to adopt the language in S.23, a bill that will effectively end this process. To that end, this morning I sent the attached letter to both Majority Leader Reid and Minority Leader McConnell, in support of S.23 and the elimination of fee diversion.”
