Dodd-Frank celebrated its birthday on Thursday but a number of questions remain, from regulatory uncertainty, to the power of financial regulatory authorities and how to control skyrocketing compliance costs.  After one year Dodd-Frank will:

  • Require 2,849 additional federal employees through 2012 (GAO).
  • Expend more than $1.2 billion in additional taxpayer funds.
  • Impose more than 19.6 million paperwork burden hours, according to official estimates from the Federal Register
  • Require approximately 2,200 years worth of paperwork burdens.
