NEWS RELEASE: HOLTZ-EAKIN: BUDGET FAILURE “RESTS SQUARELY ON THE DOORSTEP OF THE WHITE HOUSE”

WASHINGTON- American Action Forum President Douglas Holtz-Eakin issued the following statement in response to reports that negotiations between super committee had failed:

“The level of irresponsibility in Washington today is truly stunning and the bulk of the blame rests squarely on the doorstep of the White House,” said Holtz-Eakin. “The President appointed a commission to study and recommend ways to balance the budget more than a year ago and then proceeded to ignore their report. The super committee was hopelessly deadlocked last week and the President took a weeklong trip to Asia. Now that super committee talks have broken off completely, the President is heading off to New Hampshire to campaign. Even with our country racing closer to a budget disaster, President Obama is doing nothing to change course.”
