HOLTZ-EAKIN: "THIS IS A DEBATE BETWEEN FIXING WASHINGTON'S BIGGEST PROBLEM OR IGNORING IT"
WASHINGTON - American Action Forum President Douglas Holtz-Eakin today issued the following statement after signing a statement with more than 150 economists calling for significant spending cuts and budget reforms in Washington:
"This isn't just a debate over spending cuts, this is a debate between fixing Washington's biggest problem or ignoring it," said Holtz-Eakin. "Yesterday's vote against a reckless debt limit increase without significant spending cuts and budget reforms proves that approach is a non-starter, so the debate now shifts to the size of cuts and seriousness of reform. Securing our fiscal future should not be a partisan issue, especially considering the danger of our current path, but nevertheless some see this as an opportunity to score political points. I urge the President and members of Congress to remember our responsibility to future generations as they continue this important debate."
