John R. McKernan, Jr.

John R. McKernan, Jr. is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Education Management Corporation.  Mr. McKernan served as Executive Chairman from February 2007 to December 2008 and Chief Executive Officer from September 2003 until February 2007. Mr. McKernan joined Education Management Corporation as Vice Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors in June 1999. In March 2003, he became President and served in that office until September 2003. Mr. McKernan is also a director of BorgWarner Inc., a publicly traded producer of engineered components and vehicle powertrain system applications, and served as Governor of the State of Maine from 1987 to 1995.
