Dr. Mark J. Perry is a full professor of economics in the School of Management at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and finance since 1996. Perry holds two graduate degrees in economics (M.A. and Ph.D.) from George Mason University and an MBA degree from the University of Minnesota.  For the current academic year, Professor Perry is a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. 

Dr. Perry's primary academic research is in the area of applied macroeconomics and financial economics, and he has published dozens of scholarly articles in economics and finance journals, and presented research papers on a regular basis at national conferences.  In addition to scholarly research, Dr. Perry had written more than 150 guest editorials that have appeared in newspapers around the country including USA Today, Investor's Business Daily, Dallas Morning News, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Sacramento Bee, Miami Herald, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Detroit News, and the Detroit Free Press. 

Since the fall of 2006, Professor Perry has written daily in his blog Carpe Diem to share his thoughts, opinions and expertise on economic and financial issues.  Carpe Diem has captured the attention of a growing, global audience (with 5,000 daily visits) and Perry is called upon frequently by the national media (CNBC, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal) to discuss the economic material on his blog.
